London concentrator design & install

Client: Signalling Solutions
Type of Project: Telecoms Installation
Value: £50K

At various LNW Signal Boxes, the existing Proto wire CW528 SPT concentrator systems & STS MMI keyboard and supporting UPS batteries had life expired and were therefore to be replaced with new concentrator control equipment.

The project consisted of the following works that were to be undertaken;
  • Pre testing of the existing circuits prior to installation works.
  • Commissioning & hand back to the local maintainer
  • Testing of all newly installed equipment
  • Installation of replacement keyboards and batteries.
  • Transfer of existing circuits onto the new concentrator.
  • The recovery and disposal of all redundant assets, in accordance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive.
  • 240V AC distribution board renewals and associated fuse spur / dual pole lockable isolation switches.
  • Installation of a Hawk Absent Block Switch Unit at Dalton SB.
  • Repositioning of signalling battery cells at Howe & Co sidings SB.
  • Extension of the system alarms via the Data Information Technologies system to the Stoke TEC and connection into the alarm management system. This includes any works required at Stoke TEC (NR Responsibility).
  • Connection of the Hawk speech buffer output to the existing Nicecall Focus 3 voice recorder channels.
  • Installation of new concentrator and MMI keyboard systems & UPS batteries.
  • Enabling works to enable installation of telecoms termination points.
