Client: Balfour Beatty Rail
Type of Project: Junction Lighting
Value: £261K

The purpose of the lighting was to provide an appropriate level of illumination that would permit maintenance activities currently undertaken in daylight to be carried out during the night, when access is more readily available.

The lighting was designed and installed to permit patrolling, maintenance, repair and some renewals to be undertaken without the need for temporary lighting. The lights were designed using “Flat Beam” Technology set at 1.5m above rail level on posts and high level on existing structures. There were two elements to the implementation of the junction lighting, firstly the “Civils” element and secondly the “Electrification & Plant” (E&P) element. The civils completed first followed by the E&P works.

Works comprised of:
  • Distributing and Installing Lights
  • Lux Verification Survey
  • Testing & Commissioning
  • Installation & Termination of cables
  • Installation of Cable Tray
  • Distribution of cabinet
